Our crew overcame the heat and performed a great set for the crowd at Porter Square Books in Cambridge yesterday.
Zantarius read to a room full of book lovers:
And Samantha came out even though she's still recovering from being hit by a car a couple of weeks ago. What amazing dedication!
And of course Maishka wowed them as always.
And the film crew was there taping for the upcoming Books of Hope documentary. Check back for more info.

Two shows coming up!
If you're a local Somervillain or Cambridgian, come to Porter Square Books, located in the plaza right next to the Porter Square T stop. We're having a performance on Saturday, June 19th at 6:00pm.
Then, on Monday we have yet ANOTHER show! Celebrate the first day of summer by coming to Stone Soup's Open Mic night at the Out of the Blue Gallery at 106 Prospect Street in Cambridge. The event starts at 8:00pm.
Youth on tour, youth on poetry-fire! Be there, or be square!

BOH Intern Debut Post
Hello!
My name is Alia, and I am a volunteer editor/mentor at Books of Hope. I've been helping out Soul, Titi, and Jade since March, and it's been an inspiring experience for me. Learning from these powerful & creative women has seemed to spark the validity of my life, and my own writing. And of course -- the youth in this program are AMAZING. You need to see them to perform.
I'm serious!
Last night, the Books of Hope crew traveled to Providence, Rhode Island, where we performed at the lovely Blue State Coffee cafe on Thayer Street. Every Tuesday night, they invite poets far and wide to perform at Got Poetry! Live. What a warm group of poets! They welcomed Books of Hope with open arms, and we will definitely be back.
On Friday, we're going to Manchester, NH for yet another show!
Stay tuned for videos and photos from both these events -- or, we'll see you there!
